Great American legion post huge bar room for a lot of veterans. Good menu lots of draft beer very interesting conversation about America in our current state politics

October 5, 2022 update: Still an awesome place to socialize, dine on delicious foods & enjoy great beverages. December 2021 Update: The Canteen is now non-smoking. A SMOKING SECTION HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE FRONT OF THE BUILDING. The food is still AWESOME!! We enjoyed some very well prepared steaks. The service is still top notch! After 18 months of testing, this post has the BEST burger in town! The rest of the menu is great and the wings are perfect!! My family loves this place!

7/20/21. Stopped in to see if it was better than in 2019. Very happy to say the bartender was nice this time. So thank you Michele. We enjoyed a Philly cheese steak sandwich for lunch. No one smoked while we were there, but it’s still a smoking lodge. Entrance is on 3rd Ave, not 4th. Large parking lot on West side off 3rd. GPS is misleading. Not so friendly yet. Will update if things improve. Don’t forget this is NC, so it is definitely a smoking facility. ????
