Very good customer service, all staff are very friendly and welcoming. Room was clean and comfortable, and very good for the price. Although the tenderloin doesn’t have the best reputation I didn’t ever feel unsafe outside even at night time and it is a great location being very close to many shops and restaurants. Definitely would stay here again, best value for money

Outstanding customer service! We had to get a room because water flooded our place, and funds were short. We called around but settled on The Bay. Out of the bargain hotels in the Tenderloin, The Bay rises to the top of the competition. It's not even fair to call it a bargain hotel, because it's a solid 3 star hotel. Everything was clean and new. Not the best views but for a clean, quiet place to rest, you couldn't ask for anything more. Also, I'd like to give kudos to the gentlemen who manages the hotel. He was a gracious and responsive host, and made our stay that much more enjoyable. Kudos.

Hey, know what you are getting when you book. Sure, they have shared bathrooms in the heart of tenderloin, but the price is fantastic. I wasn't expecting much but my room was clean, the bathrooms stayed clean, the front desk was nice and helpful, and there was even a very small breakfast of sorts. What more could you ask for? It may not be a Hilton, but as far as a cheap hotel for the night if you are going to the Warfield for a show or something? Perfect. Would stay here again no problem.

We got back to the hotel around midnight and tried to grab something in the room to give back to my friend, but the hotel manager stumbled out drunk and started yelling at us. We checked out immediately and will obviously not be coming back. Not to mention that the rooms are pretty gross, and the hotel overall has this musty, spicy smell. Honestly, I’d rather sleep in my car.

It ain’t heaven, it’s the Tenderloin… That being said The Bay Hotel is well kept compared to similar dorm style SRO hotels in the area and there is obviously a considerable amount of effort expended on keeping the place shipshape. AJ the front desk agent politely showed me the room before I booked in for the night and I found both the room and the two shared shower facilities on the floor to be completely above the board. Unfortunately I could hear the person in the room to my right snoring very loudly through the walls and the person(s?) to my left appreciating one another’s bodies vigorously. This is not really any fault of Bay Hotel and the complimentary Coffee and OJ was enough to cheer me after a rough nights sleep.
