This is a great place on the island to get a good view. You can see out over the lake and even get a look at other nearby islands. There is a parking lot nearby with plenty of parking. I would highly recommend this area for anyone looking for a chill hike or a cool place to see antelope island. Pretty sick!
Best view in the island. Visited in January after a week for snow and view is just breath taking. A little slippery. You can bring your car and then it's only 0.4 mi to the top. Watch for ????
Great experience for a little bit of a fee /car load will definitely do again but with jeans on instead of short due to mosquitos
We had a great experience other than the insects buzzing in our face and a few in our party had pretty big welts the next day from the bug bites. We should have stopped at the visitor center first if you do that you can pick up face nets for around 5$ or bring your own. Other than that it was an amazing hike being out at the great Salt Lake is like you’re in a different area all together, almost like being at the ocean. we saw bison and we saw plenty of other wildlife. Strongly recommend the buffalo point trail head just bring face nets because the insects were pretty severe.
The sunset views from Buffalo Point were amazing. Some websites label this hike “easy” and/or “family friendly” but upon arrival the sign clearly states moderate. For a beginner hiker like me it was a bit of a trek. (Full disclosure, I do have a bit of lung damage due to chemotherapy) It is about 1 mile out and back, but the 250 feet of elevation was my difficulty. Once I made it to the peak, the huffing and puffing was well worth it. The views up and back were beautiful, and the sunset was amazing!! There were some of those flying insects, I think they are midges, but they were only bad if you left the path toward the grassy areas. I was delighted that I was able to catch a picture of the crescent moon while the sky was still full of the vibrant colors the sun had left behind. If you are a hiker and, on the island, I 100% recommend this trail to watch a sunset. There are also benches there should you need to take a breather.
