Update - I purchased a venison chub that once unwrapped looked and tasted rather old and buffalo burgers that looked very fresh but were extremely gamey tasting unlike any other buffalo I've ever had. Original - Unique little place tucked away in a corner. It's worth a stop to check out.

This is a really interesting place if you're looking for novel proteins. Tucked away in a neighborhood and off the beaten path, Butcher Boy does small scale meat processing, so if you're a hunter or urban farmer this might be convenient if you want professional butchering. They also have a small shop area with three freezers full of out of the ordinary meats. Bison, venison, camel, alligator, pheasant, rabbit, elk, ostrich, snake... all kinds of whole cuts and ground, expertly packaged and sold frozen. They also have some cased meats (the hunters sausage made from elk is delicious), locally made pierogis, and a few other items. Real mom and pop operation - pick what you like and a proprietor will ring you up in the side room. All told, a nice little secret hole in the wall if you want to try something new for a special occasion.

I've been going there for a lot of years! They process your deer, and for some reason. With butcher boy, your back straps are twice the amount as other processors! They don't treat people like we're dummies. They just do great business! Every true hunter knows how long, and think..that their backstrap should be! Nice quaint butcher shop. They sell alligator bone in leg meat. Great price. Highly recommend you to check this place out if you are searching for novel, exotic meats. Hard to come by in Michigan so come here and support this place.
