The El Charrito Mexican grill in portage is an absolute gem the absolute best in this area. Their enchiladas verde is the best I've ever had the verde sauce is the best here and their taco barrio is fire here too. The margaritas are really good too. Our Server Sally suggested both meals and she was absolutely right about both. Sally was so nice and gave us great service. I highly recommend this mex grill restaurant is excellent . We will definitely be back.

Delicious.???? The service was great.. Awesome prices. This entire meal you see on the table was $41.00 Including drinks and tax. Nobody in town can beat those prices! Tempted to come once a week.!! Not to mention, I had a special request for the cook & he honored it! ???? Absolutely fabulous! The waitress Julia, Fantastic! All the staff was helpful and worked together. ???? Pinch me I must be dreaming..????

We tried El Charrito last night for our date night. I was not disappointed I'm the least. The food was seasoned wonderfully. The service was delightful! Our server was very attentive. The only not totally negative, just preference. The sauce for my birra was a tad bit salty, but still flavorful. And the queso we ordered was small, but that serving size was tiny. Still, very delicious. Overall, we will be returning.

We went in for lunch on a Monday around noon. It seemed a bit quiet, but we got very fast and friendly service. It was nice to have a lunch menu available(11am-2pm, I believe). We ordered a small Queso Dip to go with the complimentary chips and salsa, a Monday Margarita special in the strawberry flavor(small for $3.99), Arroz con Pollo, and the lunch special: 2 steak tacos with rice and beans for $9.99(steak was a dollar upcharge). After tax, it came to $34 and some change. It was well worth it! Everything was delicious and we enjoyed our first visit. It won't be our last. Thank you!

El Charrito Mexican Grill, located on Central Avenue in Portage Indiana. Our server was Julia and she was superb ????! We had the bacon wrapped stuffed jalapeños for the appetizer. All freshly prepared, the jalapeños were nice and firm, bright green as they should be when not pulled from the freezer. The dipping sauce we thought to be a spicy thousand island dressing, the pairing with the avacado wedges was delightful. Julia recommended the Quesabirria dinner to my wife, something that she had seen on YouTube videos and had always wanted to try. Hard shell tacos soaked in the brazed beef brooth, deep fried, filled with cheese and slow cooked beef, served with more of the brooth to dip the tacos in. Turns out she chose wisely and completely enjoyed the dish. I thought that the Aloha Fajitas sounded interesting enough to try. Basically chicken Fajitas with seared smoked ham and grilled pineapple added. The mound of food on the sizzling cast iron skillet was insane for just $15, I was only able to eat ½. It was okay, the ham by itself was very good and had excellent flavor, but together.... I have tried chimichanga cheesecake at several establishments and had always been a bit disappointed, but not theirs! It was what I always imagined it should be like, excellent ????!
