The chili rellenos is to die for!! In the space back when I was a teenager was called Navarrete's Mexican Cafe. It was kinda known for it's chili rellenos and uniqueness and flavor. Well El Joey's is that taste and more. Reminds me of my favorite restaurant

The only good Mexican restaurant between Odessa and El Paso.

I have been going here for over a year and a half, and I always respect the ladies and tip quite generously. The food is good. However, today I had an issue that needs to be made aware to the management. I arrived at 11:30 and there was no seating other than an 8-top. I was willfully moved to a 2-top which was hastily cleaned by the waitress, leaving wet spots everywhere. I ordered, and 65 minutes later, the order still wasn't ready. I was never checked on. Since I was late for work, I went to just pay for my soda at the counter. Waitress was so unaware, that she thought I had already eaten, so they rung up the full price. I told them that I had NOT eaten, and without any apology, she rang me up for the drink. Now here's the real kicker... The say that their credit card machine won't accept anything less than $5 and they wanted me to buy more stuff. El Joey's, the correct thing to have done in this situation is to tell your customer that you're deeply sorry that they didn't get to eat anything on their lunch break, then comp their drink and ask them to try you back later. I would have done just that. In fact, if you hadn't made it so difficult to just pay for my drink, I may have still come back. The poor lady behind me was forced to pay for my drink, which was so embarrassing. Since you didn't understand, let me just tell you... I refused extra charges out of principle. You have a lot to learn about how to treat your repeat customers who have been coming in 4 times a week for the last 18 months. Also, your new waitress needs to learn how to smile and act with respect. It seems like she's there again her will. SHAME ON YOU, El Joey.
