My first experience at Golden China Restaurant was very positive. My friends and I arrived for lunch and were immediately seated. The host /waiter was professional but not overly inviting. No real problem with that. We country folk are way to accustomed to the southern charm being laid on thick. The lunch menu offered a nice selection. Orders arrived piping hot and absolutely delicious. We all couldn't help stuffing our faces. Overall, the meal was a little pricey for lunch @ $46+ but the taste, service, and quality made it worth every dime.

My first time here want be my last. I had the Chicken with Garlic Sauce and white rice. It was Cooked to perfection. I really enjoyed it. I also got some egg drop soup to go. It was really good. The waiter was nice and very attentive.

I want to start be saying I “wanted” to like this place. However, the food is definitely below average even by North Carolina standards. The sesame chicken was decidedly terrible– dark meat and rubbery with an unexpectedly “heavy” tasting sauce. The dumplings “appetizer” came after the main meal and was barely palatable. The only dish that was half-way decent was the orange chicken. The service was good, I will give them that. Overpriced. I would go elsewhere if I were you.

I'm not hard to please when it comes to cheap food, but this food was neither pleasing nor cheap. The chicken fried rice was some of the worst I've ever had. The chicken was rubbery and COMPLETELY unseasoned (almost as if it had been boiled), and the rice was very bland. No flavor, no love, just plain bad. The vegetable lo mein wasn't as insulting as the rice, but still pretty underwhelming and under seasoned. The side of white rice was pasty and clumped together from being old, probably left over from the lunch service earlier that day. I get it, prices go up due to food cost. However, it's not acceptable for quality to go down if this is the case. My two dinner portions cost $30 in total, which would just barely be justified if the food was great. As a longtime food service veteran I have a lot of love for small, family-owned restaurants. Still, I have no stomach for food that's as expensive as it is mediocre.

Bruh it's 15 minutes till closing time ???? and yall are closing your kitchen early. I understand the hate for working. We must share that feeling together. But don't close 15 minutes early when people are still hungry out there. Like me. Okay I'll go eat some Cook Out now????????
