I'm giving their service a one simply be there's no negative. They have had my pickup for over a month. They still have not figured out what is wrong with my brakes. They have three times now said come get it it's ready and it's not. That's three times I've driven the pickup with a completely unsafe braking system. Do yourself a favor and do not trust your life or the lives of your family to their absolute shotty work. Update: 2 days later Tim the owner calls and starts yelling at me because he fixed it. When he clearly did not. Ended the conversation with "have a nice fricking day", now that's professional!!
Two members from Gracepoint Church recommended that I go to Hometown Service and Tires because the manager/owner Tim is fair with the customers. They were very correct. The power steering fault error was displayed on my SUV dashboard, and I was having transmission problems. I took my car to another local mechanic shop that didn't even try to work on the power steering and simply said I had a bad transmission and didn't recommend a transmission shop. After taking my SUV to Hometown Service, Tim confirmed that the transmission needed work and provided a name of transmission shop. The power steering fault error was at the time a simple electrical/code error that was quickly fixed. I appreciate the professionalism of Hometown Service and will be taking my vehicles there for servicing.
I can't say enough good things about this business. Three times they have quickly worked us in to take care of my kid's car while at school at SDSU. The most recent was over the Thanksgiving holiday. They rescued us from what could have been a miserable visit. They are reliable, cost effective, and high ranking in their customer service efforts. Awesome people and business!
Great place. Been using them for many years. They always get me in when needed and I've never had an issue with the work done. Thanks Tim!
I'm suspicious of those three reviews from a couple months ago. Kind of looks like someone made fake accounts. So lemme explain my experience with them. I moved to Brookings within the last 2 years with a lemon of a rig. It had problem after problem. They were able to figure every one out and give very fair estimates, especially when I did comparisons from other auto services. When I finally had a problem that just cost too much, instead of selling me on fixing the car and just taking the money, they were legit with me and told me you should consider getting a new one. Honest and dependable. My go-to for anything mechanical. The only flaw they have is they're too busy. But proper planning ahead and they'll treat you right.
