Firstly you need to understand that this place has great value and the best prices for this kind of food in the area. Very good job on that part. Large milkshakes for 2.50 is amazing and you can tell you are getting quality for what you pay. Vanilla is good. Chips are great with tremendous servings and chicken salt. However there is a real problem with flies in the shop. You can’t go 2 seconds without 10 flies buzzing in your face. They need to address that.
This year will mark twenty years going to the best hot food bar in the inner-west! In that time, prices have not jumped very much at all. So much so, that there was great shock when milkshakes went from $2 to $2.50 (sarcasm). The chips have the same great taste. My advice is to never, ever skimp out on the chicken salt. Mary remembers when I was shorter than the counter and would come with my sisters and share some chips. She remembers by name many of the regulars and their orders. It's a nice personal touch.
I've been coming here for years, upwards of 15 years. I used to buy a breakfast of 4 deep fried items for under $5. Prices have remained almost the same. I now take pics of the shop window to show my friends in WA to compare to the inflated prices we pay here. Mary and her crew remember me and my family and I always make a point of stopping in when i'm in Syd.
Cheapest in Sydney!! 10years ago price and all foof big portions. My kids love this place. Try bacon & egg roll only $3.50 big size. Not recommended coffee in this shop.
The store keeper runs around like a headless chicken and yelling at people (mainly staff). It's hilarious and honestly, besides the great prices and having the best chips there , the yelling is probably half of the reason why I like going there. It's strangely entertaining to watch. Edit in 2019: Okay, so they've upped their price by a very minuscule amount (long overdue over so many years anyway), but that has allowed Mary to get herself a new rotisserie oven. The BBQ chickens there are noticeably tastier, juicier, crispier and just generally better. Well done, Mary!!
