Update: Jim’s Muffler in Hendersonville NC is no longer in business. Obviously I was not the only customer with a less than satisfactory experience, and obviously there were severe owner/management problems. It’s sad, Jim’s used to be a wonderful friendly business. I have a diesel pickup, not many places will inspect a diesel, so I have been taking my vehicles to Jim's for years and even had an exhaust systems replaced on the diesel years ago. This month I'm told exhaust system will be $550, ok, Jim's has been doing my inspections, I will be loyal. I have it done, they do not put on the exhaust tip discussed because it's not in stock (I was told all parts are in stock) and price is $625, price will be $750 with an exhaust tip (which must be ordered). I did not surprise them with the work I need done,, and EVERYTHING was discussed prior to work being performed. Evidently there has been turn-over of employees and the guy now giving quotes and doing the work, the work looks good, but he is a liar. Even if someone does good work, I hate a liar, and will NOT be screwed on price again. Take your vehicle somewhere else until "Jim" realizes what he has working for him now.
Had a muffler installed elsewhere and my Honda Civic was rattling and vibrating but other shop tried to convince me that I was hearing things. Jim’s worked me in quickly and reinstalled properly for $100 and was ready same day. He even saved the tail pipe to show me where it was rubbing against the underside of the car. I appreciated their professional, friendly customer service and will be back!
I went in today after another mechanic told me the issue I was having with my Jeep randomly not starting was due to an exhaust issue I have. I do have an issue with the exhaust that needs corrected. I went in and as he was going to give me the estimate to fix the issue and it wouldn't start. They listened to what I told them and looked at my exhaust and said they can fix my exhaust (reasonable price) but it wouldn't correct the issue with it not starting. They checked and corrected a few basic things that the previous mechanic should have corrected but didn't. They then called me another local mechanic to help with diagnosis. They were very busy but kept checking on things to try to get me on my way. Luckily it did start after a little while of waiting. By far the best experience I have ever had at a garage.
