An exceptionally well placed car park for access to the surrounding fells. Gatescarth pass, Harter fell, High Street range, Small Water and Blea Water. The car park is free and you can park overnight. It's extremely busy and gets full very early as you would expect, especially in the summer months.
We had a lovely walk in a remote, quiet area. There were a few other people around but there is plenty of room for all. The paths were very rocky around the reservoir, so sturdy shoes are very much needed.
Free car park with stunning views. Sufficient space off season, but gets packed on sunny days. Really good walks around the Haweswater reservoir and up to High Street. Well recomend it to family with small children as you can enjoy easy walk to the reservoir ( no pram or wheelchair access) and you have options for more challenging walks up to the hills. Views are really stunning!!!
Beautiful walks from here, with fabulous views. The climbs are steep, though, so walkers need to be reasonably fit.
End of the road and start of many journeys... Beautiful location. Parking sports can be scarce and are popular with non walkers/runners that like to just sit and have lunch in the car. It can be busy at night, even though there is no permission given for overnight parking. Popular parking for runners, walkers, bird spotters, anglers, photographers & picnickers. No fee for Parking but there are two donation boxes. No litter bins. Please take your litter home and other people's litter if you can. I'm unaware of any mobile phone network that works in the car park. I recently had a flat battery and had to ascend part way up Riggendale to get a mobile signal.
