It was breakfast time, and I tried something different. Their tortilla soup! Wow! It's my new favorite item at Mr. taco. I added chopped onions and plenty of crumbled tortilla chips. I've been coming here for 20 years and I've never tried this. You got a try it!

It was mine and my fiancé‘s first anniversary together. We love Mr. taco! We had other plans for dinner, but it was a little late so we decided to go to Mr. taco. We both had the Bobby plate, which is an enchilada with a small guacamole, salad beans, and rice and tortilla. It’s the perfect amount. He had a chicken enchilada and I had a enchilada with beef. To make things wonderful for the evening, they had a mariachi band, and that was just a perfect setting for a first year anniversary of dating. The mariachi band was so nice. They came over and sing two songs for us, and then proceeded to just make the whole atmosphere that much better. The mariachi band comes on Friday nights. The food is always delicious. The prices are perfect. It won’t break your wallet. They have a drive-through or you can go inside for dining and they serve alcoholic beverages if that’s your choice. All in all, it was a perfect way to celebrate our first year together.

I ordered the Bf Soup (Caldo). It was very good, seasoned just right. (I ordered corn tortillas but was given Flour.) my only negative. My husband ordered their Bf burrito. 1) Huge 2)Delicious 3) Meat was tender (Carne Asada/fajita). 4) Reasonably priced. $14.99 5) Easily feeds a family of 4 (Not kidding). 6) Chips were fresh and flaky 7) Salsa was very good! This is my honest opinion of this place. And let me tell you, I’m a very picky person. Just ask my husband ???? my adding a photo. My husband took his left overs home. That’s the second picture you see.

My favorite place to eat in Gonzales so far. Mr. Taco is a restaurant that truly does not match it's name. Taco is in the name, but tacos are minor item on the menu. Mr. Taco has a vast menu spanning everything from seafood to burgers to pancakes. There is something for the whole family at Mr. Taco, even if you are not in the mood for Mexican or Tex Mex. If you follow my restaurant reviews, you know I am fan of Mexican Caldo. Just call me the Caldo Connoisseur. The Caldo at Mr. Taco is on point. While Gorditas Mexico (Galveston) still weasr the crown as far as the best caldo in Texas, Mr. Taco is right up there with them. Everything else I have eaten at Mr. Taco has been great and the prices are easy on the wallet. And then there is the Chips. You might be wonder how carn chips can be different. Why they are at Mr. Taco. Unlike every other Mexican restaurant in Texas, Mr. Taco serve Puffed Corn chips. How they get their corn chips to puff up like they do, I do not know. What I do not is I will go there just to eat the chips. They are that good. If all this was not enough, Mr. Taco throws another gem in the mix with a Mariachi ban that performs live and takes request on Friday evenings. It is a ton of fun and the guy are talented and play and sing their hearts out. Remember to give them a nice tip if you are there when they perform. The Bottom Line: Try out Mr. Taco if you are in Gonzales, Texas. Just do it!

Food was okay. Service was good. The weird things was the “quesadilla” it was like a fried puffy taco. It also had the option of quac or cheese. But quesadillas should already have cheese?? It was really weird. The ground beef was from a can so that was really gross. Tortilla soup was great!
