Do you ever just go to a restaurant and you’re just blown away by how bad the food and customer service is? That is the experience we had at Mum’s Family Restaurant in Brandon. The food was very under seasoned (no seasoning in their burger patty, it’s literally only ground beef formed into a patty). The pork chops were very undercooked and the fries were soaking in grease. Instead of offering to make my burger right or replace it they said that’s how they are and gave me seasoning salt (which didn’t help at that point). We have eaten there before and it was never like that. They asked to replace my husband’s pork but it was tasteless and undercooked and at that point he didn’t want to eat the pork. We wanted another option but that was a no. They left us sitting while the food got cold and ignored us while rudely talking about us around the corner. I only got help when I had to ask for a server to come over. That’s when the staff was rude again and said the owner had to come down which took 20 minutes. After waiting we explained to the owner what happened I was wary of letting them make me more food at this point. The owner offered 50% off the bill. I said fine and we would never return again. There were so many times when this could have been made right but the staff didn’t seem to have a clue about how to handle the complaint. It’s really too bad because the food and service was always so good here. We just won’t be returning because of it. Here’s a picture of the undercooked pork chops ????.

Very home style restaurant. Amazing food! This place has been a local icon to Brandon for years. I’ve had multiple items from here in the past and nothing seems to disappoint. The restaurant itself is very small though and sometimes can be hard to get a seat because of all the locals constantly here. Staff was helpful and the service was fast, only waited about 15 minutes from placing my food order when the restaurant was packed. Around 15$ per meal before tax. Would 100% eat here again.

Took my parents here for supper. It was a wonderful experience. Friendly, caring staff, with a seniors menu that can't be beat. We all ordered something different from the menu and it was all delicious. My parents are still talking about it. This will be a "must go-to" place with them when I'm visiting.

I was looking forward to eating brunch there as they had pierogies in their breakfast combos but ended up really disappointed. Bacon was cold and congealed (likely cooked well over an hour before served), pierogies were store-bought, deep fried and also cold, sausages were very good, eggs and toast were fine. Servers were friendly but no check-back after meal was served, hard to flag down servers to get their attention, didn't say thanks when tipped. The place seems to have a lot of potential for a great independent breakfast-diner experience but poor food preparation really killed it for me.
