I don't leave a 1* lightly (please see my other reviews) One of the most disgusting breakfasts I have ever had. If it wasn't for the salt, pepper, ketchup that had to be plastered over it to give it any remnants of flavour What really cheeses me off, you can taste the VALUE tea bags they give u yet charge full price,. Don't con people....if your going to use cheap tea bags because of rising costs....give people the choice to buy or not ! Cheap sausages aswell...the only half decent thing was the egg,. Which looked out back like they come.on big trays, potentially local And what's with the roast potatoes on a breakfast

As an ex local, I've never actually been to this cafe as I've had other options but as I was in the area I thought I'd give it a go. Well......... The cafe itself gave a cold, dirty vibe which should of been my first red flag. There wasn't many people in the cafe which I could understand as it was a day before new years eve. As I stood at the till, I saw the lady who served me making another person's meal which included mash, I liked the look of it however when watching the lady put the mash on the plate, she used her bare hands which to me is another red flag! At this point I was starting to question my choices to eat here but as I was hungrier than a zombie from the walking dead I chose to crack on and have a breakfast. This is how it went.... There were plenty of tables to sit at However they all had plates or some form of claret on them meaning I couldn't sit at them but eventually found one that looks out onto the street which I like as I enjoy watching the world go by. I realised that I didn't have any cutlery so I went to get some and boy was I in for a treat! All of the cutlery had some type of stain on them which I found disturbing but with a bit of a clean, got most of it off. The table itself needed a good wipe down but my thoughts were maybe someone has not long been at it and the staff didn't have time to clean it... who knows. I Started off with a cup of tea which I was completely undrinkable and was very basic. I ordered hash browns instead of potatoes as a breakfast should NOT have roast potatoes on them! However I digress, the food came in good time which consisted of bacon, sausage, egg, mushrooms, black pudding, fried slice and what I could only assume were beans with potatoes and no hashbrowns (I did let the lady know who did sort this error out, in her defence) The food was luke warm with pretty much no flavour. The beans were sloppy and tasted like they were 3 days old! The sausages were bland (say no more), the bacon was dripping in grease and looked like it had come off a grill which hadn't been cleaned in a loooong time! When the hash browns arrived, they were hot (which were a god send) but were so peppery, I didn't know if I needed to add salt in order to make them edible and the potatoes looked and tasted like theu had been cooked then stored in a fridge amd heated up in the microwave! No amount of salt could bring life to those bad boys. The only saving grace was the egg, fried slice and mushrooms which tasted OK. As I paid good money for this, I braved it and finished it and gave myself a few minutes to question my choices again! All in all, i wouldn't come back again as the cafe looked run down, the staff didn't seem to have much hygiene standards (plating mash with your bare hands?), bland and basic food which was a struggle to eat and a cold atmosphere which doesn't scream bring your custom to me! The only good things I can say is that the lady who served me at the till seemed nice was pleasant when taking my order.
