We also did it - the hike along the sea - natural, wild coast - wonderful - to Timmendorf beach - and back. The dog liked it too. It's all ok. And the ticket thing is okay too. For the care around it etc. - no complaints from me. A wonderful day trip.
Quiet parking lot. Fortunately, the signs saying “height limit 1.8m” turned out to be wrong. The headroom is over 2m. A Dixi toilet and garbage cans were available and clean during our visit. 5€ day ticket is ok. Short walk to the beach. On the beach, beautiful sea view. A walk along the bank towards Timmendorf is very worthwhile.
Close to the beach, but also pretty expensive if you want to spend a day at the beach there in summer. Now in winter the path is quite rutted, there are lots of holes, no matter how you try to avoid it, you'll get a lot of shaking. But the view of the Wismar Bay makes up for it. To get there, follow the signpost to Hinterwangern.
This parking lot is definitely not recommended. An original height limit of 2.60m was subsequently reduced to 1.80m. Why? Doesn't make sense to me... Bullying suspected. The one(?) campsite on the island should probably be used sufficiently? Or the holiday apartments? In any case, it is not permitted to spend the night in any of the island's parking lots with your private vehicle (bus/camper/motorhome). That's all well and good, but you can't even use the parking lot during the day if you drive a car. Especially since the public order office is very quick to hand out tickets if you dare to park on the wide street in front of the parking lot, right on the edge, mind you. Very good, this is how you deal with paying tourists who want to visit the island's bars and restaurants. The "road" to the parking lot, like many "streets" on the island, is not recognizable as such, so I don't understand what happens to the parking fees paid (€5!) and the parking ticket money... Flow into the infrastructure In any case, not these funds. Sure, driving slowly helps keep your car running longer, but I've seen more exposed places with better roads. The beach itself seems to be okay, not that polluted (just "natural dirt" washed off plants/seaweed), hardly any people, but was only inspected briefly because the fear of a ticket was too great (stood with Van (Vita size) in front of the parking lot). I only saw one sunbathing person and four anglers, who presumably belonged to a camper that was parked in front of me and was ticketed.
There are enough parking spaces available. One point deducted for the fact that, as is often the case, there are no charging stations here and another point deducted for the fact that card payments or payment with banknotes are not possible. So you need enough change. Important note: Maximum height 1.80 meters!
