Restaurant and staff all seemed pretty run down. I asked for menu recommendations and the lady seemed appalled and offended saying "you can't ask me that." Took a while to gather my order because she kept stopping to yell at someone else. Family kicking around with their feet up, presenting this was their home. Lady walked by me saying she left my order at the counter, could've politely handed it to me... t There was no have a nice night. No customer service. Food was nothing to rave about.
What can I say about this place. This place fits every negative Black establishment stereotype. The food is usually decent but the service is as unprofessional as it gets. On my last visit. My server kept walking away from me mid sentence, in her very dirty red shirt. She was clearly annoyed by me or something else and made no effort to conceal her mood. The fan on the ceiling above me was broken, very dirty and noisy. The restaurant was dirty and hot, there were clips of dust and hair on the floor . There were chairs pileed up in one area. Dust and dead plants were also featured. . Iept wondering if the owner just did not care about his/her business and the customer experience. It actually looked as if the owner had given up on the place. I found it quite sad. The food was served with macaroni salad, a very odd choice. There were no green vegetables served. They were out of most of the staple Jamaican food items. My rice was clearly defrosted with chunks of rice fused together and an overall unpleasant taste. My companion was served the wrong drink but we decided to avoid any further confrontations with our not so charming host and quickly exited the restaurant. We will not be dining there again. I hope they clean up and show some pride of ownership or shut the joint down!!!!
Great Food..Clean and friendly Atmosphere
First time there, came recommended to me, best chicken and salads I've had yet. Staff/owners are SUPER friendly and kind. Definitely recommend and will be back!
Authentic Jamaican cuisine. Food taste great a must try is the fried chicken and curry goat. There are many places in durham that say they cook Jamaican food but nome that beats the flavour and seasong of the food at red snapper cafe. And did I mention the soup yum yum.
