DO NOT BOTHER! Would not recommend this place at all. Only gave one star as Google makes you, but one star is one too many for this place. 6 of us were rudely turned away by a grumpy older woman on a Saturday evening even though the place was almost empty. This is clearly a local place for local people only. We are all aged between 45-60 and just wanted a few beers, I have never been to a place like this that turn away business so rudely simply because we had one small dog with us, even though the website clearly states they are dog friendly. Avoid at all costs!
One star is one too many for this place! We're staying nearby for a few days, and called several days before we arrived to book a table for Easter Sunday. The lady that took the call was very dismissive and offhand, saying they were closed on Sundays. We asked if we could have a table for Saturday evening, to which she said that the restaurant was closed, but she could probably do a pizza. We decided to leave it if it was that much bother. We did, however, try to call into the pub on Saturday evening for a few drinks. There are SIX of us and a dog. The info on Google clearly states that dogs are welcome, however as soon as we walked in we were told by a miserable looking women that she couldn't have dogs in the bar even though there was one wondering around in there! There were also people sitting at tables, clearly waiting for food. This appears to be a local pub for local people. With landlords constantly complaining that they can't get enough business and that times are hard, this pub is obviously bucking the trend. Dead quiet yet still opening and turning away business. Drinks were therefore purchased from the local shop, and tomorrow, a lovely friendly pub called the The Chuchill Arms just 10 minutes away will be getting our business - 6 meals, and numerous rounds of drinks!!! Please DO NOT waste your time and energy going to this place!
The website for this pub looks great. In fact, it was the main factor for us camping at Brades Acre, 5 mins down the road. A few days before our stay, I phoned the pub to book a table for 6 people only to be told by a mardy woman that they don't serve food !! Ok, no biggie, we'll just have a few beers. So, 6 of us adults and a small very well behaved dog, walked up to the pub only to be instantly turned away, presumably by the same woman, saying " we don't have dogs in here "! It clearly says on the website that dogs are allowed (see pic) and there was even the pubs own dog wandering about. Do not waste your time or money on this place ! Never have I had such a rude experience of a pub worker. (Don't think she owns it, just acts like she does) Go to The Churchill Arms at West Lavington instead. There you will have a friendly welcome, great beers and amazing food. Avoid this place at all costs !!!
Just like in the movies. Lovely little bar with people from different nationalities having a chat. Also a friendly Bulldog is running around.
Really bad food, ugly inside, just like a working mans club, even though the outside looked nice! Definetly will NOT be going there EVER again. They turned away customers 15 mins before last orders.
