Wanted to try the food here but sadly they were not serving until 4pm (Sunday for our visit). This was not clear from the menu on wall outside. Had some cask ale on but not top tier craft. There is only one toilet which is upstairs (accessed by outside steps). There was more space upstairs and felt a bit more spacious if you want room.

We had a great evening in the pub. The staff were so helpful bringing drinks to the table. We ordered the pies. Very tasty and reasonably priced. They allowed the dogs in and brought them treats and water. Would definitely recommend

Cozy little pub. Extremely rude bar person. (A young female) Real ale quality was sub standard. Take your trade somewhere else where the bar person is more welcoming and not as rude. I wouldn't mind paying £14 odd if the real ale was of a decent quality and the staff were friendly.

After reading a couple negative reviews I was pleasantly surprised to find that they were unfounded and undeserved. While there may be some truth to being more welcomed if you enter with a dog as the owner is clearly a canine lover, I didn't notice anyone without a pup being forgotten about or dismissed. This is a small area supported in equal parts tourism and local clientele, it was clear there was a clique of familiarity among the locals, but was in no way off putting. I didn't find any of the staff to be rude at all, they served us promptly and without fault. I ordered a pizza which arrived in good time, cooked to perfection. I also noticed they do takeaway as well which clearly speaks to the popularity of their food. My partner noticed a sign that said "no WiFi, no kids" which was such a delight to see. I want to point out it's a small cosy venue, capable of seating somewhere around 20-30ish or so people, and upon arrival we did find ourselves waiting ten minutes or so for a table to become available, so I would recommend calling ahead to reserve a table. I tried this but failed to find a contact number on Google, probably the only negative thing I'd say about the place though that may have been down to my own technological ineptitude, so keep that in mind depending what day/time you visit it might be busy. Great drink choices, their beer "smugglers gold" was a triumph and I would return again for that sweet nectar alone never mind its many other features. As a final note I'll add on to anyone looking to spend a night or two, we stayed at raven hotel in ravenscar which can be seen on the cliff side from robin hoods bay, well worth a look. In all, great little tavern, lush location, treat the locals with kindness and you'll receive it back tenfold. 10/10
