I live an hour from Edmonton but come to Spice Islands whenever in the Stony Plain Road area for at least a couple decades now. Their selection of spices is extensive, decently priced and their import fruit and vegetables are great as well. I may not be able to treat myself to a breadfruit each time I stop. But any time I'm in the area and I've got 5 minutes to spare I'll at least stop by Spice Islands for a quick hot Jamaican patty or samosa with a cold Irish Moss and a Ting! I figure the Westend is lucky to have Spice Islands. Because you'd be traveling a long ways to various other distant places in Edmonton to find all that Spice Islands has available in one place.

Dear Spice Island Owner As one of your potential customers, I was treated quite disrespectfully by a man who answered your phone today. I am sure that as the Owner, you want your customers, both on the phone and in person, to be treated with dignity, respect, and patience. As the owner I positive that when one of your friends, who is covering off for one and tells your customers to call in re: making an order and inquiring about your available stock, you would treat them with courtesy and friendliness. Hopefully, others who contact your store have a better experience than I did, and hopefully they are not hung up on as I was when I was about your stock availabilty.

It's such a good place you find everything you need from a pin to an anchor

Extremely friendly owner and great hidden items only found in the narrow aisles. Great exotic products and frozen foods including lots of home made local stuff. I recommend to come here and check it out especially if your into ethnic stuff.

Lovely owner who is always there is very helpful. He remembers customers! He can let you know when a shipment of something is coming. Walk the aisles get to know the carribean and indian products available! Return often or call ahead! You can also purchase ready to eat patties and cocoa bread to go. Saturdays he also now has ready to go doubles cooked by a trinidadian to sell.
