A proper boozer with proper Brighton characters behind the bar, all super friendly and helpful & great choice of ales & beers. You don't find authenticity like this often these days, so enjoy it while you can. Definitely a pub for a return and prolonged visit. Update: I'm informed that it has changed hands but still has the same feel. The decor has been refreshed but this has not upset the character of it. Excellent ale!

Very 'downbeat' pub, basically like a works canteen - the beer was good, not difficult to get service, and the food is really excellent! I understand the menu isn't constant, so different dishes are constantly put on their boards. I recommend the BoT and will be back.

Looking for a classic British pub with classic British beer? Walk up the hill to here. Quieter than the pubs around, so good venue for a table chat with friends/family. Nice selection of beers, and you can ring the bell if you are feeling charitable.

Friendly bartender and good customer service. I liked the range of options in their menu. Conveniently located next to Brighton Station.

I used to love visiting this pub for its atmosphere, staff and clientele, but it has gone downhill since the previous team left. The spirit selection is poor and the cleanliness standards have declined. The redeeming point is Vanessa's cooking and her roast which is always delicious. If only everything else had remained as consistent.
