A quintessential pub tucked away up on the ridgeway in idyllic English countryside. You can feel the hundreds of years of history once you step through the door. Grab a pint of cider or beer with a roll and take it all in. Whether a local or a weary traveler coming off the road the staff and atmosphere make you feel right at home.

Quite literally one of the best pubs in England and it has been run by the Macaulay family for over 250 years. The landlord and staff are always welcoming, and the beer is always on form. Grade 2 listed interior, lovely beer garden. And a big selection of rolls are available with generous fillings. This pub is national treasure, you must visit.

Love this place. For me the best pub in the UK! Friendly service. A decent selection of ales at a good price. Didn't eat this time but the rolls are amazing. Lovely garden or watch the world go by out the front. Perfection!

What a beauty of a pub. Great place just to stop and soak up the sunshine after a walk. Top beer, rolls and building.

It's a rare old place that transports you back in time. They haven't succumbed to any trends for hundreds of years! They have maintained the only rules you ever need : good manners, good beer, good food and good atmosphere. For "good" read excellent! Well done
