I was looking forward to visiting this. A Joules pub, a brewery I haven't come across before. We had to squeeze past a couple of blokes smoking on the doorstep. The pub is a fairly basic boozer though nothing wrong with that. We couldn't sit at the table we'd initially selected as next to that a lady with a dog advised us that her dog was aggressive and wouldn't like our dog. Nice. No snacks of any description as they 'hadn't had a delivery'. A further star docked for subjecting us to commercial radio. If I'm paying to sit and drink your beer then I don't expect to have to listen to adverts while doing that. The Joules Pale Ale was lovely. I'd have liked to explored the Joules range more but it hadn't endeared us to linger or to return during our visit to Leek.
Not the normal Joules experience! This pub is dying, ignored by barstaff on entry, one lady stood chatting from inside the bar to another customer 'local?' ''No we don't have any slumbering monk'' Started making a coffee, started serving another customer, forgot about coffee, coffee was then served cold. Another customer was forced to shout ''is anybody serving?'' And there were 3 people behind the bar, leaving everything to one young girl!!!! Very poor.... We left after 1 drink
Called in last night for drink , used to come all the time but wine went off , not chilled and not quality . Though t would give another go . Wine and beer excellent but bar staff eating take away behind bar then the guy sat with feet up in the only chairs by fire so customers couldn't. Not a good look guys , not professional won't be coming back even though beer good ,!!!
I recently moved to Leek and I pop in here just for the welcome. The staff made me feel at home from the get go. It's a simple pub, homely cosy local feel. Lovely x
Amazing pub, highly recommend. Ryan is fantastic, the quiz is brilliant, drinks range is great and prices are fantastic
