Lovely little pub with great tasting food at great prices. We had an appointment at the hospital next door so this was very convenient. Happy bar man and waiter. I had and amazing Prawn Pad Thai. My father is Gluten Free so he only had a Jacket Potato with Beans. They lose a fifth star but only for a l of gluten free things on the menu, the Jacket itself was lovely. X

???? South Kensington ???? £6.15 Heineken ?? A cosy traditional Chelsea boozer. . Nestled on a corner, in the shadow of the Royal Brompton and Royal Marsden hospitals you’ll find The Crown pub. The nearest tube is South Kensington. . This Freehouse was built mid nineteenth century and is one of only a few old school pubs left in Chelsea. . This is a cosy pub which is traditionally decorated with an eclectic mix of wall colours, full marks given for the proper pub carpet. The servery, counter and back bar are all solid dark wood with some nice ornate touches. The pumps were covered in menus which I wasn’t a fan of. In the bar area, seating is limited to a couple of poser tables plus a few stools around some ledges. There are tables and chairs out front if you fancy a imbibing alfresco. At the back of the bar is a dining area which didn’t feel in keeping with the rest of the pub but was bright and airy. . The beer line up was good and included Doom bar on hand pump. I opted for a pint of Heineken, my pint was lively and hit the spot, price point was average for London. The food here is a mix of traditional pub grub plus a popular Thai menu. . I arrived mid-afternoon on a Sunday and the atmosphere was fairly chilled with the exception of a table of six fellas who had been right on it the night before, nice bunch of lads. Then in comes a middle aged woman who ordered a large wine and was on to the next one in no time at all. She proceeded over to the table of lads and started asking them loads of questions about what they’d been up to, then next minute she was gone. . The Crown is a charming little pub which has a few frayed edges which is what I loved about the place. Because of the pubs size, you immediately feel involved in what is going on here. The beer was good and the Thai food draws in the punters. I really enjoyed visiting here, definitely one for the traditionalists. . ?? Info correct on visiting 26.03.23

Ah ha, a proper pub, right next to the royal Brompton hospital. Great hospitality, lovely beer, both cask and keg. Recommend for a beer anytime.
