Good old fashioned family run English pub. Log burner, real beer, accommodation and a fab choice of homemade food on the menu. This was the second time we've stayed, even better this time. It's a working pub, so don't expect frills, there's dogs and prams in the bar and it's real! Not contrived decor. We love a fire, locals and muddy boots. Our room was very warm, very comfortable and very clean. Our dinner was deeeelish. Thank you to everyone at The Lord Nelson, we'll be back.
The room was amazing, it was clean and had everything we needed and even better it's all ground level so wheelchair friendly. The food was amazing and the chef went above and beyond for our fussy children.... and the whole team were wonderful.... super friendly locals... highly recommend staying here
A cold, dark place but with outstanding food! Freezing cold inside, so wrap up warm, but do not miss the beef pies, they're delicious, packed with meat and served piping hot!
Stayed here over night on the way to collecting our new puppy. The pub is really very nice and quaint. The selection of beers is great and they do a mean Guinness. We had fish and chips for an evening meal and it was very tasty. The fish batter was lovely but a bit too cridou for me, great tasting dinner. The staff we're extremely polite and attentive at all times. Very friendly too. We stayed in room 2 which was comfortable but it does need a bit of an update as the walls have the paper falling off in places and the bathroom needs updating. For the money, it's not bad at all. They have some very nice looking stable bedrooms which look lovely but are probably more expensive. Our breakfast was very nice. Wouldn't mind staying here again but probably on the stables next time.
We stayed here in the family room. Really big spacious room for the 4 of us. We all had a meal in the pub and the homemade cooked food was gorgeous. All the staff very welcoming, if in the area we would definitely stay again.
