Sunday lunch was pretty good, very generous portions. Asked for a side of mash for a baby, was told they don't serve it with Sunday roast, despite it being in the kids menu. They did offer an alternative though
March 2024. Pub had only been open two days under new ownership after being closed and empty for over a year. We were made very welcome by staff. The number of locals who arrived suggested that the reopening had been eagerly awaited and made for a lovely atmosphere. Food was excellent. Well presented and a proper plateful. The huge Yorkshire Puddings were of special note and the pride of Jamie the Chef who came out for chat. One little chap in particular was enjoying his Yorkshire. A very friendly little dachshund who had popped in with his owners. Will be visiting again soon.
Having just newly opened and us new to the area, we wanted to visit our local for the first time. We went into the bar area and found a little table and ordered at the bar. The young chap behind the bar was friendly and quick at serving me and the drink selection is exactly what you expect from a place like this. We originally just wanted a few drinks but upon seeing another table receive their Sunday roasts we immediately had to have it. The roasts came soon and we found the portions were amazing. Loads of veg including cabbage, carrots, broccoli and cauliflower cheese. The main plate had the beef, parsnips, potatoes and stuffing on, plus the bigger Yorkshire pudding I've seen for a while. It was all amazing and we just about managed to finish the plate. Overall the food was brilliant, the service was genuinely surprisingly good, especially since it was their 2nd or 3rd day open. We'll happily be back asap to try a few other items on their menu
