We came here for lunch for the NYMR 50th Anniversary Event before taking the steam train for the day. Having struggled to get them to answer the phone the day prior to get a table booked I finally managed to get through after leaving a message. The pub is small with a very traditional feel and if you are stopping for a drink then it is fine. However, the food was very bad. This culinary delight was served in a very aesthetically pleasing polystyrene takeaway tray, consisting of chips and a warmed up frozen something. It was not what anyone would expect when booking a table at an establishment so close to a prestigious tourist attraction. And at £9.95 per meal I was stunned at the sheer audacity of being served something I can get from a takeaway for half the price. So yes, our 5 polystyrene trays with a handful of chips and un frozen food came to £50 on its own. We will not be returning again, and would not recommend the food.
Nice pub good selection, menu & soup was excellent. Great place to watch the trains & just relax before going exploring around the engine sheds.
Nice pub half way along our walk , traditional style small pub , we both had soup it was very nice, while we had our soup someone else had a Sunday lunch it looked really nice ,blacksheep beer was also good . We will come here again and try the Sunday lunch .
