Enjoyed a late Sunday afternoon lunch with a couple of friends. First time for all of us - VERY impressed with the food quality (kudos to Zak in the kitchen) and service (Sydney was wonderful). A North Toronto business very worthy of support - the four of us will be back!
Came here on a cold, windy afternoon recently; almost missed seeing the entrance as I walked by on Yonge Street. Wanted soup and they had a soup of the day. That's what caught my eye. The server, Alisha, was friendly and attentive. I ordered the soup of the day - cream of broccoli - and can honestly say it's the best I've had in a very long time. No corn starch or other thickeners used here; it was creamy with real cream and a wonderful flavour of broccoli and herbs. It was also pleasantly hot enough to blow on, but thin enough to cool slightly as I ate. I also had the apple/brie/kale salad. The salad came topped with a house dressing that had a slight sweetness to it, just enough to offset the kale's bitterness. Overall, a pleasure. The interior has lots of wood and interesting items on the walls. I'll be back, maybe for the French onion soup next time.
Love the location and the feel. Fantastic staff and service. The food, however, as a recommendation, needs a re-think and perhaps a little more QC. Had one of the best breakfasts I've ever had in Toronto at this place months ago, but it seems like the food quality has gone a little down hill. The last meal felt as if the burger was microwaved as it was very dry and mealy and too hot to eat, which at $18.95, was disappointing. The pub is certainly worth continued patronage, but could be so much better with a little more care with the food.
Nice place, good ambiance, great service. Enjoyed a couple of scotch whiskey, the staff was friendly. Clean and well illuminated, they have live music Friday and Sat.
French onion soup and Brie, apple, and kale salad with maple dressing were tasty.
