We spent a few days in a holiday lodge nearby. After spending the day out on sunday, we stopped off for a meal here. We called ahead as we were arriving after the carvery had finished however the chef had beef leftover and accommodated us with 3 roasts and a mixed grill. The food was good and we were all blown away by the size of the portions. The service was good and we all had an enjoyable meal.
Enjoyed the food right price for environment, wonderful helpful staff, quiet on a Sunday evening. Hammer platter is huge, mainly battered. Sausage and mash good but onion gravy pushes It up a notch. Chilli ok Personally really enjoyed it
After asking if Sunday lunch was available..which they said yes...we were served with a plate of left over mush. We asked why there was no roast potatoes on our Sunday roast to be told there were none left or no chicken so was given pork. Our plates were piled high with carrots, green beans, a shrivelled up yorkshire pudding and lumpy mashed potato which was cold. I told the young girl who served us, whom seemed very embarrassed, we would have preferred a bit of honesty before they tried to serve customers with their left overs from the carvery. We asked for our bill, refused to pay for the inedible food, but still charged for the 2 drinks we ordered to have with our meal. Woud have been a nice gesture to have been given the drinks as an apology. Won't be going back. Would have given no stars if it had let me.
