Went there today and noticed it's new owners. So i hesitated a bit to go in but we gave it a try. I orders the Enchiladas Caceras and my husband got the nachos that were not on the menu but were offered to him and when we got our food, my husband's nachos looked okay but my enchiladas were not what i expected. It was 3 tortillas layered in shredded chicken. But the amount of meat was too much. The Mole sauce was barely on it. More sour cream than sauce. The salad and rice were good i didn't eat the black beans. The flavor for me as a Mexican/American person didn't do it for me. When looking at the menu selections, i didn't see anything eye catching for me but I LOVE mole. So i ordered the enchiladas caseras because of the mole sauce. So as far as authenticity, no i feel it is not authentic nor homemade. As a chef myself, less shredded chicken and more sauce would have made this dish way better or even putting the chicken in the mole sauce and filling the flat tortillas would be a game changer, Even though the tortillas were not rolled. More like a taco bell pizza if you ask me. Before this restaurant was sold, the food was amazing. My favorite place to go to once a month. You could tell the authenticity of the food, especially the mole. Oaxaca mole with sesame seeds was amazing. Would i go again? Maybe. If i can't find another place near by. I think that this is more texmex than Mexican. The new name of restaurant says it all. With an American pallet, i would say they would love the food. But for me it is a 2 out of 5 stars on food taste. For now, hopefully that changes in the future.
The restaurant was clean, but that’s the ONLY positive I can give this place. We arrived about 20 minutes after they opened; and I ordered two cheese burritos with the red sauce. My food came, and it was as if they made it in a microwave. Some spots were boiling hot, and others were ice cold with unmelted cheese. Horrible food. The waitress seemed annoyed by our questions, and even more annoyed when we needed something. Don’t waste your time coming here.
Food was outstanding! From the chips and hot homemade salsa to the entree, Pollo Sureno, everything was flavorful and well proportioned. The service, was less so. I chose to eat at the bar, as I often do when dining alone. I ordered a margarita and asked if chips and salsa would be coming. Yes, they would. Marg was served and several minutes later the chips and salsa came out. No water was provided nor was I asked if I would like water. I did without. It took a whole for the food to come out, but it was worth the wait! So good! I ordered a second smaller marg and enjoyed every bite of my meal. I only ate half the meal, wanting to save the rest for an evening snack at home. I waited about 10 minutes for the bartender/waiter to return and asked for a box. He brought it and left. No check. Another 15 minutes went by and I finally had to ask a waitress if I could get my check. She caught the bartender and check was finally delivered. The atmosphere is nice and colorful. However, the air conditioning was not on and the inside temp matched the outside at just shy of 85°. Too hot and uncomfortable, I actually left sweating. Even with the sub par service and the heat, I will return. Though next time I may order carry out. ????
